Review on DBS for Dystonia

Despite considerable achievements in genetics in dystonias, their response to possible treatment such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) remains to be elucidated. Since blinded randomized study protocols are spare, case series and short/long term outcome is of pivotal interest for patients suffering monogenic dystonia.

Therefore, ERN-RND is performing a systematic review to assess the efficacy of DBS as a treatment for monogenic dystonia symptoms. The objective is to develop evidence- and consensus-based management recommendations for the benefit of DBS for patients with monogenic dystonias in a collaborative effort within the network. Get an insight on preliminary results of the review in this video interview with Sylvia Boesch.
